Skill Building

How to use this page: Resources are divided across four categories that (1) emerge often in my work and (2) can be (at least partially) developed on your own. Multiple approaches are provided for developing each skill. All resources are practice-based. This list is not prescriptive and is intended as a supplement to therapeutic support. Resources are updated regularly.

Becoming Present

The capacity to be with reality as it is and without judgment. Typically developed via practice, study, and community.

Practice

Practice mindfulness using an approach that works for you.

  • Tara Brach (free podcast; acceptance, awareness, and right action in troubled times)

  • Waking Up (app; exploring the illusion of a separate self; variety of teachers)

  • Insight Timer (free app; variety of teachers and practices)

  • Happier (app; practical, with focused courses on mood, sleep, etc.)

Study

A selection of books to complement mindfulness practice.

(Re)Connecting with the More-Than-Human World

The capacity to know and trust our belonging to the Earth and interconnection with all Beings.

Reclaiming Routine

The capacity to spend your days the way you most deeply want to spend your life.

Resolving Trauma

The capacity to get safe today, remember harm from yesterday, and grow into a different future.
